What’s Your Problem?

[10] So much turmoil. So much strife. So much fear. So much anger. So much division. Lies, accusations, hypocrisy, injustice, insecurity, violence, corruption, abuse, sickness, addiction, poverty, loss… Overturning, overturning, overturning…

Uncertainty dominates our culture and swallows up our thoughts. It casts darkness over our future, and dismantles our peace.

There is no agreement between even two people on every subject, and no clear pathway through the social, cultural, and personal minefields that we all find ourselves dropped into.

We fasten onto the Internet, social media, and network media to search for what we should think or do on every topic—updated minute by minute.

But all these sources have agendas they serve, and we are pieces in their war games, moved and sacrificed in endless skirmishes over territory and token victories.

We scour the world for answers to the problems that the world created. We are the sick who ask the dying for healing.

We entangle ourselves more in the snare of culture.

We go to the Internet for answers . . .

We should go to God.

God has an agenda too: you. You are His agenda because He loves you, and has a good plan for your life. He wants to bless you and direct your path, give you wisdom and peace, and use you to help others find it.

He also wants to heal our nation so that it represents Him well to the world, and to help others find Him too.

The world offers hundreds of answers to every problem. But few are worthy. Many make things worse.

But the answer to every problem is Jesus.

Are you poor and in need?

Jesus says: “Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matt 6:32-33

Are you afraid?

Jesus says: “Peace I leave with you, My own peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

Are you overwhelmed?

Jesus says: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yolk is easy and my burden is light.” Matt 11:30

Are you persecuted?

Jesus says to pray: “For I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.” Luke 21:15

If you have ANY needs, problems, hopes & dreams:

Jesus says: “I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10

Jesus Explains how much He loves each one of us:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3:16-19

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. . . My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:11, 27-28

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Matt 20:28

He asks us to put our faith in Him, and we will be richly rewarded:

“Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me. . . And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. . . Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” John 14:6, 13-17, 23

He shows us how to conduct our lives and He promises to bless us:

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. . . Love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:31, 35-38

“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matt 5:44-45

Jesus gives each of us a higher purpose—with greater promises, better rewards, and more blessings than the fleeting concerns of the world:

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matt 28:18-20

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matt 5:16

“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” Matt 16:27

The Bible tells us that people are not our enemy, but the powers of darkness are influencing the hatred, and anger, and injustice, and division in order to dismantle our society. We must have a spiritual awareness and a spiritual response for a spiritual war:

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. . . So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James 1:5, 19-20

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3: 13-18

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:11-13

The Bible has all the answers we need about how to become one in Him, treat each other right, and live in peace:

“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being. . .” Acts 17:26-28

“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all. Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:8-15

This world is tearing itself apart. God is shaking the things that can be shaken so that the things of God will remain (Hebrews 12:26-28). We must devote ourselves to the mind of the spirit, and by our peaceable wisdom, bring others to Jesus while there is time to work.
